On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the second edition of the football tournament «OGIS Cup» was held, organized by the Olga Gudynn International School of Bucharest.
Our high school has lined up a team of boys competing in the under-18 category.
In the group stage, our boys won both matches against the teams ICHB Pallady and the school Genesis. Both matches were very close, and the winner was determined by penalty shootouts.
Unfortunately, to reach the final, we faced the team from the European School (SEB), which then won the final against the same ICHB Pallady team that we had defeated in the group stage.
We therefore qualified to play the third-place match against the ICHB Colentina team.
At the end of the regulation time, the score was 2-2, so we had to endure the stress of penalty kicks again.
Showing concentration and self-control worthy of the greatest champions, our boys scored their 3 penalties and won the well-deserved bronze medals!
I would like to congratulate our boys who fought to the last drop of energy and who deserve the nickname of «Lions»:
Luca PICHARD (captain), Matei-Filip GHETE (inexpensive midfielder of the team), David HNATIUC, Mathis LONGATTE and Sven HOFFMANN (the three elite penalty takers), Matei GOGESCU (who scored the equalizer goal in the final phase of the match), Thibalut MELNIK-ARDIN and Radu-Costin PETRESCU who contributed to the team’s victory and finally, Paul PERRIN, our courageous goalkeeper who managed to keep the goal well open in the difficult moments of the matches and gave confidence to the team.
Thanks to the supporters and spectators, as well as the parents of the students, who came to support our teams throughout the day despite the cold weather.
Come to next year’s tournaments to continue the wonderful adventure of the AS football team of the LFB!
Lucian TINTEA, the coach and head of the AS football team for high school students.
